Choosing Quality Child Care: What You Need To Know
Your kids deserve the best child care, but how do you know which providers are really offering the best day care services in Austin TX? Let’s be honest, it can be tough to identify the right child care facility at first glance. After all, they each claim to be the best even if they are not. It’s up to you to choose quality child care and we are going to discuss what you need to know before you make that decision.
Before we go over this information, one word of warning. Just because a child care program has most or all of the things we are going to discuss as to quality, be advised that this does not necessarily mean that program is the best one for you and your family. However, you can start to make your determination of one facility over another based on these important features. When you are working towards a choice armed with superior knowledge, you can make the best decision for your kids.
Child to Teacher Ratio
The ratio is important, perhaps even THE most important component to your decision-making process,
because it dictates how much personal time your child will be given with the daycare teacher on any given day. Children between the ages of 1 and 3 years need high levels of care and attention that only the daycare teacher will be available to provide.
These are the most important developmental years of a child’s growth and since you will not be present to provide this care, you want to be sure the daycare personnel will be.
Healthy Diet
Consider what kind of foods and beverages will be offered to the children. You want to avoid your child being given snacks and meals that are high in sugar, fat, and sodium. Fresh vegetables and fruit are the better alternative and should be favored over food that is going to promote weight gain and obesity.
Plenty Of Exercise
What kind of exercise regimen does the child care program offer to the kids? Your child’s body and overall health and well-being are paramount for success and any good well-rounded child care program must incorporate a physical education component. Keeping your child active will keep their minds sharp and promote good health.
Education Curriculum
How much time will be spent giving your child a quality education? What type of curriculum do they offer and how will that impact your child’s growth? Will the assignments be beneficial to your child or will the time spent on these assignments be wasted time? Don’t be shy about asking as many questions that come to mind regarding the curriculum. This is imperative.
Administering Discipline
No matter how good your child may be at home, chances are he or she will need to face some form of minor discipline based on their behavior and that of their fellow students. How does the day care mete out discipline? What are the standards for this discipline? Make sure it’s always done in a positive way or it could have an impact on your child’s mental and emotional well-being.
