Bourton-on-the-Water

Bourton-on-the-water, one of the Cotswolds’ smaller villages, is centred around a narrow stretch of the River Windrush. This village is nicknamed ‘The Venice of the Cotswolds’ because of the many little bridges that cross the middle.

Along the stream on either side, traditional bungalows are lined with gift shops, antiquarians, bakeries and pubs. The locals of Bourton-on-the-Water play traditional river football in the summer. This is a centuries-old custom.

Broadway

The village of Broadway, located in Worcestershire is one of the largest Cotswolds villages on this list. The beautiful wisteria-draped shops and cottages are some of its most distinctive features.

The artist William Morris was known to visit Broadway many times and use Broadway Tower to escape the busy city and infuse new inspiration into his works.

Burford

Burford is a mediaeval village in Oxfordshire that has been described as the ‘Gateway to the Cotswolds’ and one of the prettiest towns in England. It’s filled with charming antiquarian shops and boutiques. There are also 12th-century churches and thatched roof cottages.
